What this is:
  • • A small-group wander with a local.
  • • Views, stories, and a pub break.
  • • Short, memorable bits—not a lecture.
What this isn’t:
  • • Twenty people following a flag.
  • • Endless dates and timelines.
  • • A race round the city.

About Dan

I’m Daniel, born and raised in Scotland, and Edinburgh is the place I call home. I like showing people the city in a way that feels relaxed, funny, and memorable—more like wandering with a friend than following a script.

Expect some sarcasm, plenty of laughs, and a few wee facts you’ll actually remember.

The essentials

  • • Max 4 people (Larger groups on request)
  • • Language: English
  • • Pace: relaxed; hills and cobbles included
  • • Meeting point: “Centre of Edinburgh” bollard (Waterloo Place)

The Tour

We'll meet at the “Centre of Edinburgh” bollard. Then head up Calton Hill for views over the city (unless it's raining, which it probably will be), see some half-finished monuments and hear a few facts worth remembering. From there, we'll cut through the Old Town, the Royal Mile, and the Grassmarket, with a few pints (or coffee) along the way.

Good to know

  • • Toilets and pub stop built into the route.
  • • Not heavy on dates; light, fast facts instead.
  • • Wet-weather adjustments if needed (You're in Scotland so bring a jacket).
  • • Sarcasm included.

Why Join

  • • Tiny groups—feels personal, not crowded.
  • • Stories you’ll remember (and repeat in the pub later).
  • • A guide who sounds like a person, not a brochure.

A wee note

Disclaimer: If you’re after exact dates, long timelines, and flawless historical accuracy, I’m not the Dan for you. There are tours that’ll give you that. This one’s for a laugh, a wander, a pint, and just enough history to tick the tourism box.

Pricing & Booking

£40 per person — small groups only (max 4). Larger groups by request.
